How to Protect Your Hair While Working Out

Janet Gilbert

How many times have you said you were not working out because you didn't want to ruin that fab hair style? Be honest! I know I have made excuses before because of my hair. But living a healthy lifestyle is so important and necessary. Don't let your hair stop you from achieving your fitness goals. I am going to share a few tips that will help you protect your hair while working out.

1. Pull your hair up.

Keep your hair off of your neck by pulling it in a ponytail or bun especially if you sweat a lot. You can also twist your hair or braid it.

2. Wear a satin scarf or headband around your edges.

Satin reduces frizz and keeps your hair from breaking off. Don't tie the scarf too tight.

3. Wait until your hair drys before taking the scarf or headband off after working out.

Avoid frizz by waiting until your hair is dry to take the scarf/headband off. You can also use a blowdryer to speed up the drying process. Remember to dry on low heat settings.

4. Work out in cooler climates.

Work out in air conditioning, early in the morning, or late at night to avoid excessive heat and humidity.

 5. Refresh your hair and scalp after working out with an oil.

Constant sweating will make your hair look dry and brittle. So, keep your hair shiny  and healthy by applying an oil after working out.

Hair styles can be revived and changed. But when it comes to our health, it's not as easy. So are your going to choose your health or your hair? We encourage you to follow these tips and choose your health! Now lets get FIT!
